Awesome car
by Cdubbs on 11/28/2025 12:34:22 AM
This refresh made this the best ev on the market. I have driven several long drives and it makes it fun. My rule was 7+ hours I would fly. That's up to 9 hours. - 5.0
Best car I ever owned - again!
by savvytravlr on 11/26/2025 8:13:07 PM
Earlier this year, Tesla sent me a letter with an offer on my 2021 Model Y LR that I could not refuse. The trade in was great, and the Federal Tax Credit was still on, so I jumped! I absolutely loved my first Tesla, the 2021 Model Y. And I have to say that replacing it came with just a little trepidation. I was afraid I would miss the shift stalk (thankfully the turning stalk had been restored), and I didn't quite understand how it would work on my new car. But it was simple - just a bar on the screen that is easy to use. Would I prefer the old method? Yes, I still miss the stalk, but this works fine. Overall the '2025-'26 Model Y Long Range is the same car but with much more refinement. The first is the rear screen, which I never would even have noticed, but our 8-year old twin grand boys absolutely love it! They ask if we will just let them sit in the car and play games, which we occasionally do, under supervision of course. But the whole experience is just more smooth. The ride is still firm but much softer, absorbing the bumps with dignity. The noise level is noticeably lower, contributing to an overall driving experience is even better than before. And the automatic rear seats are a game changer! I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised! Are there changes I would like to see? Yes, certainly. The door handles are still difficult for non-Tesla drivers and would greatly benefit from being lighted. Personally, I'd like to see a little less emphasis on the idea that the car will do it all and more concentration on having it do what the driver needs to make life simpler. I'm not yet convinced that I will ever use Full Self Driving - certainly my test drives have not been a positive experience. But Autopilot is pretty good, and I do find myself using it on the motorway. At first I was completely confused by the simple on-screen interface, but now I am spoiled to the point that all the instruments and controls on an 'ICE' car seem confusing. That's not to say that there should never be some buttons. I feel as if the effort to simplify things have made some functions a bit more difficult. In closing I do have a wish list, in addition to the lighted door handles. The first one is CarPlay, which I understand may finally be in the works! The other is the big Achilles heel of the Model Y - rear visibility. Even the lowly Chevy Bolt has a terrific electronic rear view 'mirror.' For a tech company like Tesla to miss this is a bit of a head scratcher. So overall, the new Model Y is a great car and should make any driver happy. And it will continue to improve as all those over the air software updates keep coming! - 5.0
